For jigs I use bronze, for minnow hooks I use gold. Just what I grew up doing.

The only jigheads I've ever made, myself, I used bronze hooks. But, since I've started getting my jigheads custom-made by Grousefly, he's put three different colors of hook in them -- gold, bronze, & red. Haven't seen much difference in the number of bites, due to hook color, though.

    Default Hook color

Ive been looking at red and black jigs hooks lately. As far as gold and bronze, ive had bronze hooks rust so I dont like them. I have used large octopus hooks for catfish in red and black and the red gets beat up real fast, while the black nickle seems a tad better in saltwater and with the hook staying cleaner longer.
Im going to try the red or black jigs hooks from mustad for my next crappie heads.

I use either bronze or red. The color of the material I use is really the determining factor for the attracting qualities. Bronze and red are just my personal preference.

I Guess I Have Tried Just About Everything When It Comes To Hook Colors. Bronze/gold/red/black/chart/crawdad, And I Personally Don't Think It Makes Alot Of Difference To The Fish But It Sure Makes A Difference When It Comes To The Man/woman...lol. But It All Falls Back To Confidence...lol...that's The Key....:d

Rarely have luck with gold or red hooks. Bronze and nichel plate seem to do better.
