    Default Need help ice fishing

I get to ice fish once a year up in northern Michigan over the Christmas holidays and look forward to it every year. People dont know how great it is that have not done it. Anywho I know how to target pike and get into them every year on Fletchers flood up near Alpena and they are great fun. But this year I want to target Eyes some and have located a lake or two to fish for them but I dont know how to target them. Any methods that would work for bait riglocation etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help.

rapala verticle ice jigs with a minnow head or tail on the hook, jigging spoons tip with minnow head/tail. Tipup with minnow. Thats about all I know on eye fishing.

Finding the stucture is the 1st thing.
Look for fast breaks that get deep quick.
A point on that break or a inside turn would be a great spot to locate.
Then find the bottom of the break. So if it's 8 feet in the weeds and then it drops to 20 foot and levels off.Find where it 1st get's to 20.
You can use a swedish pimple with a minnow hooked on or just the head and bounce it off of the bottom and lift 1.5 feet and repeat. You can also get some shinners and a #6 hook with a slip bobber over it.
Set the depth of the minnow 1 foot off of the bottom.
