    Default internal or external Ant.?

all right all you Gps pro's. I have a question.
which is the best way to go internal ant or external on the lowance gps. Im looking @ the 5300 with internal or the 5200 with external. I have plenty of room for the ant. Thanks

I have the external and it works just fine. I believe the ones with the external antenna are a little cheaper. When I bought my 332 it only came with the external. The good thing about the externals is, if the antenna goes bad, you can still use the graff while your getting a new antenna.
The bad thing is you have two pieces that have to be mounted.

From what I have found is that the price is the smae on both units, Thats why I was wondering if the external had a advantage over the internal.

    they
had alot of problems with the internal antennas losing signal, especially when flush mount or on consoles with windshlied and t tops etc.If you have the room to mount the exernal antenna I'd highly recommend it.PJ

External is better as you can move it around until you find the best place it works. Usually you can get them a little higher too and that makes a big difference. This is especially true if you are going to use the unit on the bow.

If the internal goes down, you have to send the whole unit off. If the external goes down, you can get another quickly or purchase another one and be on the water the next day.

My 787 Humminbird has an internal antenna. I've never lost signal with it. Love it.

Internal Hummingbirds are great and can easily be swapped from front to back or to other boats.
