Default Any Lowrance x96 users out there?

I thought I'd buy an entry level Lowrance unit, so I ordered one. Just wondering what your experience is with the unit, and if it's worth ordering one of the instructional DVD's for the unit.

    Thanks in advance.

Looks exactly like my 102c. Both probably has all the same functions except the color. I swear by mine not at it. Easy to use.

The in line fuse holder that comes with it is junk. Get a good waterproof one and save yourself some headaches. Personal experience here.

    Default Demo software on Website

I also have an x102c. I downloaded the free software on Lowrance website to get familiar with the unit. Basically it puts the unit on your computer screen with demo water and you can play with it to learn how to adjust the settings before you get on the water. It helped me tremendously.

I totally agree about the simulators. Things may vary somewhat on the water, but you sure can get a good level of confidence in your abilities to use the unit without leaving the house. Wasn't for trainers, we wouldn't have gone to the moon (and back). They have my vote. However, nothing replaces time on the water.

Hey Cane, where do you usually buy your ram mounts from? I was hoping to find a couple that wouldn't break the bank. I know that's asking a lot.

The X96 is easy to use. You will like it and do just fine.

Mr. Pole, you don't honestly believe we went to the moon way back then do you? That is too funny.

I usually get my stuff from GPScity.com. They are fair and easy to deal with. MHO.

I have never used a Lowrance of any kind, I have always used Garmin. I just bought a new boat that has X-85 sonar unit and a seperate unit for the GPS globalmap 1600 and they are both going in the drink 12 miles offshore in 60 feet of water to be replaced by my trusty Garmin.
