    Default vise?

Is there a high quality vise alot of people use that is reasonably priced? If so who makes it and where can i get one? I use a elcheapo that I got at a local sporting goods store to start with and now its in pretty sad shape.

The best way to pick a vise is to put your hands on it. That is the only way you will know if it is the vise you like.

Cabela's Rotary Vise – to hold a jig Super II Vise item TW-31-4846 $16.99 (each)

You could also get a Renzetti, or Dyna King.

    Default Personal choice.

t-roy120, Lots of good advise ,but as White Perch Jerker mentioned the best way is tto go look at them.
I actually know of a pro jig tyer that uses a little 3" bench vise. He ties 1000s of jigs and likes the vise top surface to rest his hand on. He just happens to be the only tyer I know of that uses this system, but we all have different ways.
I use a Peak, use it more for flies than jigs but I like it and not cheap at near $150.
CRAPPIEDENTIST, what is the name of that vise, I'm curious and would like to look it over closer. Mike

About the lowest cost true rotary is a Danvise and it has some plastic parts, but they work very well and you can find them for about $65-$80.

Personally I use a Renzetti Saltwater Traveler Cam jaw (little over $200), but you can get just the plane Renzetti Traveler for a little over $150.

I would get the best vise I could afford if you know it's something you will keep using and not give up tying as many do.

There are a lot of really good ones once you get to $150 and up.
