    Default A Funny Bee Story

This last Summer we got a call about a hive of bees out in the country at a deer stand/hunting cabin. We got out there and me and 2 other Firemen suited up in the bee suits. we climb to the top of the stand part, which is on top of the cabin, and man theres a hole about a silver dollar size with a lot of bees on the outside. Well they were prett dossile at the moment of the pic but WOW they got agressive. Anyway my best friend Dale was way down below. Ole Dale is 6'7" tall and is one big guy. He is the type who will stand by your side if 50 men were coming at you and never blink an eye, but let 2 bees come at him and hes GONE. Anyway the owner was also down below and we told him to get in his truck and roll up his windows. He got in allright but left the windows down. Dale was down there also but standing around. Our Fire Chief tells him to get in the truck but he said AWW its not bad. Well our Fire Chief who also is not too brave around bees, says fine and rolls up his windows and locks the doors lol. We hit that board and WOW bees were on us like flies on you know what. Dale takes off running thru the schinnery and we look down there and the owner has opened his door and is running thru the schinnery waving at someone hehe. Well we finally get the hive taken care of and we see the owner come out of the schinnery and peek around a mesquite tree. We tell him that its better. Well he got himself stung a couple of times and Dale let him know that tobacco juice is good for a sting. Dale gets some out and rubs in on his stings. While we were finishing up we nicely enough rolled the owners windows up for him. We were leaving and looked back and the owner is in his truck slapping around at the air with his cap (darn I dont know why hes doing that hehe) we get almost into town and we get a call on the radio. The owner had called the Fire Station and wanted to know what kind of tobacco Dale used so he could go get him some of that brand for his bee stings hehe. Well anyway nobody was really hurt but it sure was funny. below is the pic of them before we started. The group thats on the outside is only a fraction of what was on the inside of that danged hole.

Well Neighbor we are strictly Volunteer here and the only Fire Dept. as well as town in Cottle County. We are the tricks of all trades and masters of none lol. We went last week and helped Matador (Motley County) they had one fire that was 2500 acres and another that was 1300 acres.

No these wound up not being the killer bees. But they were very upset we were messing with their nest lol. Schinnery here is what we call scrub oak, mesquite, and cedars lol.

We are one of the places that have killer bees. If anyone in Cottle County has bee boxes then they can not take them out of the county since it is quaranteened. We have had a lot of cases that after we sent the Bees to the Texas A&M Center wound up coming back as being killer bees
