Default Question about my new humingbird

I have a new 585c, just purchased about 3wks ago. Since installation I have kept it stored in a cloth bag (actually a crown royal bag) in one of my storage compartments. Used it in a tx last weekend and the dang screen was fogged up, moisture inside the screen!! Unit has not been exposed to rain or extreme changes in temp. My questions are, how to remove moisture from inside of the unit, possible cause?,reliability issues in the future? I know this is not one of HB's more expensive units, but come on this can't be a good thing. What would you do???????????

Not uncommon problem. My 797 did this. Turn unit on so it can heat up. In about an hour the fog should disappear. If it don't disappear, send it back.

Thanks for the responses guys, I've always run Garmin units and have never seen one do this, I put this unit on the bow and was looking at a 700 series for the helm, but this made me say hmmmmm. Not a good start with the HB. Still trying to keep an open mind, everyone speaks highly of their products. I just know moisture inside the unit cannot be a good thing.........

My lowrance does it to. I really don't believe that they are fog proof or sealed from water.

Most fishfinders are hermetically sealed. Therefore, the air (at the time/place) the unit is sealed, is trapped inside. Thus the moisture inside.

    Scientific here.:D
