Have already asked her to do that. Have never used a flash driver and was wondering about the right way. She had put them on her windows machine and then downloaded them to the FD, may have something to do with that. Told her next time to just let me have her camera card and I can use one of my readers.

I don't use Mac, but on my pc, you just put the compact flash card (i am assuming that is what you are talking about) in the card slot, then from your start menu (or where ever it is on your pc) just explore all your drives, when you see the one for the the compact flash, open it and copy all the pics and paste them in a folder or something. Some of the flash cards automatically pull up a window asking you what you want to do with them... Like I said though, I don't use Mac, so I have no ideal how their systems work.

SteveJ..I like challenges and this kind of problem always intrigues me…so I’ve done some research for you.

Read ALL these links before you start tackling this..they may be most informative!!

First ..per this website…Flash drives are compatable with both Mac and PC, so NO conversions are required.

    http://www.wellesley.edu/Computing/Flashdrive/

Second General iPhoto tutorial..says a lot

    http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto/

Third setting up iPhoto so OTHERS can add to your gallery

    http://www.apple.com/support/dotmac/publishing/

Fourth How to import photos from various types of media… ie. Flash drives, card readers etc.

    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61026

I sure hope this helps and gets you were you need to be.

    Enjoy

I have 2 card readers, CF & SD cards, and they plug into my Dell flat screen, it has a couple of USB ports, and I have no trouble downloading to iPhoto. This is the unit I'm having trouble with: http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Cruzer...6272246&sr=1-2 Maybe because of it going thru the Windows puter first. Thanks for the info, will look it over and try again. Steve

Hey Steve, I' ot an expert by no means but I have seen quite a few of these. I work at UT and a lot of the faculty have these. When they first staarted coming through the door I had to download off of the company's site a specific driver that would allow me to view the contents of that drive. Also, a lot of the faculty have macs and create their presentations on their machine and bring it on thumbdrive to the auditorium. I have a PC there and never really have a problem loading up from their drive.

    Steve
Thanks for posting the specific device, that helped alot.

After some serious searching thru SanDisk and the U3 sites, there appears to be some serious compatability issues with mac and these cards. Its the U3 technology that clutters the process, its NOT mac compatable, but the flash technology IS compatable...got real techie. It sounds like alot of mac users are mad because SanDisk advertises mac compatable, but to make it work, you have to jump thru hoops. reformat, delete the U3 components, remove the software and icons before removal of the physical disk from the drive, etc.

Anyway, as a simple work around, just have her upload the pictures to a website, (photobucket, mediamax, etc.) and you can just copy/save them from there.

Sorry, but thanks for the education, knowledge always saves me time in the future

Thanks guys, it had been driving me crazy. I'll have to get her to e-mail them to me and next time just leave them on the card. Wonder what kind of flash drive will work with a mac?
