    Question storing guns

Sorry I'm off subject, but I was getting ready to clean some guns and was wondering instead of oiling the outside for storing if maybe spraying silicon on would work any better? Just a thought I'm thinking oil though.

Bill when i store mine for an extended time.I have these gun socks that are silicon impregnated that you slide over the gun and it protects it from moisture ect. They are relatively cheap and i have never had any rust or corrosion on my guns since.
But if you don't like that idea i would use just plain ole gun oil.And if they are kept in a gun safe make sure you have a good silica bag in there with them to soak up any unwanted moisture.:D

    Bill,
I use r.i.g. [Rust inhibiting grease] .Used it while in the army frome us to hawaii and to cong land no rust. I don't like oil, It runs off when its hot.
    Thats my 2 cents

    Default silicon impregnated gun cases

Silicon impregnated gun case or socks are the only way to go. I have used them for years now. I have a 9mm SW I have fired for years in one and I have never had any rust, it sits in my sock drawer drawing dust. Also have a shotgun in one. Have been thinking of getting them for my scoped guns also.

Don't all the holes in the end allow moisture in,and won't the sock block the sights while aiming??:D :D :D

He's above me in seniority at work, so I wouldn't mine moving on up, but it's nothing personal. Well maybe.
