For longer jigging and trolling poles I go with BnM. Currently my favorite casting rod is the Bass Pro Micro Lite Float N Fly rod.
O.K I I think rod selection is a important factor often over looked for crappie fishing. We fish mostly 1/16 jigheads and match this jig with a rod that is made for 1/16 to 1/4 oz lures. I perfer a 5 foot ultra lite rod for verticle fishing they are very sensitive even to the lightest peck. Berkley cherrywood are one of my favorite's but we use other brands that are just as good what is your favorite?

I've got a pair of custom built rods on St. Croix Avid blanks. One is 6.0' and the other 6.5' and both ML action. Both are incredibly light and sensitive, especially when spooled up with 4# fluorocarbon which is my line of choice. Nothing I like better than pitching little 1/16-oz. tube jigs to deep stumps and brushpiles, and these two rods are the cats "meow".

I like b&m rods but only use them for trolling. I really like any rod that is small in dia. maybe the size of a pencil or just a bit larger where it comes out of the handle. This seems to me to make the rod more sensitive.
