Temperature was 28 degrees at 7:15am, brrrr. Was up to 30 degrees at 9:20am when I left the house with the boat. Got on the water and fished from 10:00a-1:15p, started picking up fish on the finder 3-7 feet over 8-10 FOW. So I go anchor in the honey hole and it was fish right off the bat. 1/16 oz minnow jighead with firetiger rib grub (the one bait I got fish on the 3 other different colors and sizes of Jigs). Needless to say most of the crappie were under 9", atleast 24 of them and about 6 that were over 12"s. Along with 6 gills over 8" and 3 that were less.
The fish were mostly down 4-5 feet if not right next to bottom. But the best method is to let it sink all the way and start working it or sink 1/2 way and start working it. Bouncing the rod tip, reeling and then pausing can trigger a strike too.
Not many pictures this trip but some big'ns.
All C.P.R.'d to fight again next week.
Now that was a fun cold day on the water, can't wait for ice and the numbers are just going to increase. One can only hope.
BTW, I was using an 8' UL with 6# mono, what fun, and own neting job. :D
