    Default ? for 997si owners

I am now a member of the broken wallet club :D
my question is on the type of transducer to use and what your opinions are.
I have a 2000 692 ranger boat, and am thinking about swapping the original transducer for the thru hull model and was wondering if i still would need the high speed ducer that you epoxy in and a switch to flip between them.
I saw pics of ranger690's installation, and it looked solid.I like to fish up in the brush and am worried about busting off that expensive BIG unit.
any ideas and or opinions would be appreciated.
    thanks

Ranger690 would have to let you know about the high-speed reading ability of his mounting. I would guess that you would need the second inside-the-hull 2D sonar only transducer for high-speed readings though. You can get it along with a switch in the Si-HSK kit. In this way you would just have to change the switch position for high-speed or Side Imaging readings.
