Default To the who had asked about old barns

A while back someone asked about old barns and what people were doing with them. Thought I would throw a pic in of one that is still in operation and holding hay. It is owned by an elderly gentleman who I help out a lot. I also am throwing in a pic of my Son feeding some of the cows some hay.

I am going to be tearing down an old farm house this winter. The house is well over 100 years old.

Several years ago at work a fellow ask me to make him some picture frames for him using old weathered barn boards that he supplied. I made several frames for him leaving the old uncut board edges on the outside edge of his picture frames. When originally put together the frame miters were tight and looked very good - even if I say so myself. Several months later while in his office I noticed the inside edges of the miters had opened up on his picture frames. I felt bad how they eventually turned out.

When I was making the frames I ask him if he wanted a fresh cut edge on the outside of the frame or to leave the original board edge around the out side around the frame. He chose the later which is what I would have chosen if I was making the frames for myself. Anyhow that decision was wrong.

From the left over boards I made a frame for me where I had to use fresh cut edges on both edges of the frame boards. This was the correct way to make the frames since the mitered corners on my frame did not open up after it was made. This is how it looks today.

You know I have never asked him where that old tracter wheel came from but the land has been in his families name since the 1800's but heck that wasnt long before he was born on the place. He was born in 1918.

I forgot to ask about the old tractor wheel today but the Barn and his garage are both made from the wood of the old Delwin School that was torn down many years ago by him.
