    Default Bandit Crankbait Depths

I'm confused about Bandit Series 300 crankbait depths and maybe ya'll can help. I found the following post on the Main Crappie Fishing Forum earlier this year. It shows depths for various line distances. I've been using this as a guide for crankbait depth thinking that I understand how deep my baits are running. For instance the chart in the post shows a 300 Bandit running at 13.2 feet deep with 70 feet of line out using 10 lb test. These depths are supposed to be correct for boat speeds of 0.75 mph to 3 mph.

Then I watched the Midwest Crappie video with Kent Driscoll and Russ Bailey pulling cranks at Sardis. Kent stated on the video that to determine the depth for a 300 series Bandit, divide the feet of line you have out by 10 and add one foot. Hence, for 70 feet of line out the depth would be 70 divided by 10 equals 7 plus one foot yields 8 feet deep. That's a big difference from the charts in above post. Which is correct?

    Thanks, Dan

I'd put my money on the Precision trolling book
They actually have a scuba diver watch as the baits are pulled by
a "measuring stick" on a clear lake
Although I don't know them personally, a man and his wife (Mark Romanack
and -I forget his wife's name) are 2/3 of
the company, seem like nice folks. Other fellow is a Holt. I know it's tempting to share the info, I've been guilty of it myself - but I encourage folks to buy the book and help support them. There is a lot more to it than just dive curves, lots of interesting stuff, at least to me. Like the line diameter conversion chart - diameter is everything!

    Talking Maybe 200 series

They may have mis-spoke on the show. I would think that is more in the range of a 200 series. I might be wrong but I don't think so. :D

The book also has a table or discussion of how much deeper wth a certain amount of lead added to it. It is very good.
