    Default Computer Question


    Do Cable Modems Go Bad? I'm Having To Disconnect Power To My Modem Every So Often For It To Work. Pulling Up Web Sites Gets Very Slow And Pics., When They Do Show Come Up Patch Work. Running Speed Is 256kb. This Is A New Problem, As In The Past, Pages Use To Come Right Up.

    They can go bad just like everything else. When mine went it died completely. It can also be a bad or corroded connection on the street or at your house. Have your cable people check the signal with their magic box.

    Usually they just die. Slow connectivity has many possibilities. Could be your PC needs a good cleanup. Could be the signal strength has decreased. Could be more people online at the same time in your area. Check to see what processes you have running in teh background. You may be auto-downloading updates or something and that will kill your bandwidth.

    heres what i do ,, throw it away and get a new one !! works everytime

    Just be sure you call your ISP and tell them you got a new one or it won't work. They have to log the MAC address of the modem.

    My cable company advertises (up to) 10megabits/sec on my broadband cable ... the test says I'm running 2.7megabits/sec
    Got any ideas on how I can get those 7.3mb/sec I'm NOT getting .... LOL !!! :p
