Default My First Blue Gill Popper

Thought I would see what you guys think. I got a tiny bit of paint on the legs, but that will happen since I paint after putting the legs in. I really didn't think out the color pattern, but it still cam out OK. I have a lot of ideas about this stuff.

That is really, really nice looking. It would fit on the end of my fly line without a problem.

    Default Question

Don't laugh too much, but how do you fish those??? I've seen them but never
fished one or seen anyone fish them. It looks like it would catch fish.

    Thanks

Nice job Skip. Is the body cork or foam? How did you pass the legs through the body? A little tip I learned, is that if you take some fingernail polish that is clear and has glitter in it you can get some really nice flash on the body. Tight lines.

On a fly rod and you just cast it out and bring it in in short jerks. Poppers work great for most any fish. The bigger and heavier poppers are great for Bass and can be fished with a spinning rod, but the fly rod is king of these little ones. This hook is a #12 so very small. I have some I can make up to a size #4 or a #8 right now and they are a good bit bigger than these. I can also make some like this one that is just a tiny bit bigger with a #10 hook.

I am also going to get some pencil popper type too that have a #4 & #1 hooks size.
