    Default Boat Clean-Up Problem

I took my fiberglass center console to fish saltwater in Louisiana last month, and now I have a couple of places in the boat where a fish hook or anchor chain laid on the deck and there is a rust imprint in the white fiberglass. Does anyone have a method to remove rust stains?

    Thanks!

    William

I'm not much on many of the "fix-it-in-a-bottle" products out there, but this may work for ya.......http://www.caturner.com/red_b_gone.htm

    Toilet bowl cleaner, diluted.

Before trying anything stronger, try taking some Vitamin-C tablets and crushing them and making a paste with water. Cover the stain with the paste and let it set a few minutes or an hour and see if it has an effect. This technique is used to remove iron stains on swimming pools without damaging the fiberglass. If it's not shiny, you can scrub with the paste to speed it up.

Anything with a powder on fiberglass will leave scratches. Be carefull if choosing them.

Go to your local supply house that handles Bath tubs. They have a cleaner for Gel coat tubs that will clean it up. And not hard the gel-coat.
