Thats a great fly there skip, though I think its closer to a streamer, now tie one of those on a 1/16 jighead, and it'll be a winner too.
Good things come to those who bait.

I did a version of that in a jig and have it on my web site. Have sold some too, but it's a little different, but it came from this fly pattern.

    Thanks,

I LIKE it! Itching to fish, maybe Sunday....
What makes a better lightning rod than a graphite fishing rod? NOTHING!

    Skip,

Crappie candy is a winner. Tip it with some crappie nibbles and hold on.

Flinging that with a fly rod which I plan on doing, I don't think a crappie nibble will stay on. Actually I really don't use crappie nibbles very much. I have a load of them and at the rate I use them they will last 5 more years if not more, LOL!

    Thanks !

Can you imagine one of them lasting through a few fly cast? I can't. and this is the kind of bait you don't fish straight up and down, you cast it and casting with a fly rod jerks the fly in and out of the water so that puppy will be long gone.

    Skip
Now I may put some shad oil on it which I think is probably better than crappie nibbles since it's real shad oil.

Looks suspiciously like a Clouser Minnow - looks like something that the crappie will gobble up!

It is similar, but different. I can't wait on next spring to use this fly fishing for crappie!

The Clouser in its purest form does not have the marabou tail. Otherwise it is the same. Both are excellent choices.

Skip that is another great looking fly! Yea dont tip a fly! Ruins all the action. Let it fall then pull it in, let it fall and then set the hook! Thats how that fly will work!
