    Default Water pump?

Yesterday I ran my motor for a few minutes and noticed that my water stream coming out was not as strong as before. It is still putting out but not with the force it had before. What should I do? It was fine a few weeks ago when I was on the lake. It is a 90 model Mercury 60hp. How much does a new one cost and how long would it take to replace. Thanks

Change it if ya have any doubts, cheaper in the long run... and don't fall for the ole internet folk lore of putting the impeller in with the fins the wrong way...

If the a new water pump doesn't help the problem, your exhaust manifold may be clogged with hard carbon deposits.

If you know that the impeller has never been changed, I would change it.
If you think the impeller is good my suggestion would be to remove the hose
from the elbow on the outside of the engine block, backflush with water
through the pee hole. There may be grit or some object partially blocking
the water flow. It won't take long to do this check.

Just had the one on my Yamaha replaced. Never had one put in before and this motor is an 86 model. stream got real weak. Turns out a paddle had broke off the impeller. I had a whole pump kit put in since I never had it replaced before. The kit was $52 but the impeller was only about $30. Cost about $100 for parts and labor if you get someone else to do it. CF

If it were me, I would get the whole kit and change it out. Also if a dirt dobber builds in the Pee hole it will also slow down the water stream also.
