    Default 997 Ram Mount

    Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has their 997 mounted on a RAM mount. I bought the shortest one they had at BPS and it kinda wobbles. I guess its the rubber inside the ball on the mount. I'm afraid I'm gonna hit a wake one day and smash the thing up against the console or even have it go flying. Maybe theres another kind that I didn't see.

    Thanks,
    Buzz

I have my 997 on the large RAM mount, and I really like it. It does loosen and droop when I'm running in choppy water though. Mine is mounted on the front of a SS boat, so it sometimes takes a pounding.

I've got some Ram mounts, no 997 yet though - but my Vexilar Edge
is a chunk o' lead and it is too much for them in rough water.
I saw where they make a short, fatter mount for the big boys, think it
is a 2 1/2" diameter instead of 1 1/2" or whatever the standard ones are...
But hold on to your wallet! Of course after buying the 997, whats a
(comparatively) little more $$ for a mount? :D

I cut and pasted this from Cabela's website - is this the one you've got
DTG? I see I was wrong, it is 2 1/4" diameter. It's something like $90

Bass Pro (at least the one in Macon) doesn't carry the big ram mount for the 997. I bought mine at Cabela's for like $50 and it has the gps adapter mount. I don't use the gps mount on my 997, but I have a big Lowrance with the same ram mount that I do use the adapter on. It's a great mount and doesn't move at all.

    Default Ram Mount

Thanks for all the replys. I think I may have just bought the wrong mount for this big thing. Here is a pic of the one I think I need. It says it will hold up to 65 pounds.

The one with the ball joint is the one I have now and its a little wobbly for me. I may have the one thats smaller than the one you have. Its also hard for me to get the screen exactly strait with the one I have.
