We used to quite a bit, in fact it's how I made some good friends on here -
but it went through a spell of technical difficulties, and some sabotage
by disgruntled folks, so it seems to have fallen by the wayside, sadly.
My wife is thrilled though, I used to stay at work just to chat till all hrs
of the night (we just started getting sunlight out where I'm at

Made quite a few friends on the old chat room,when Ed changed it to flash chat I stopped useing it,wish we had the old one back.

the FlashChat chat room has slow and busy days. Usually, I think, the most often used period is from 8PM-11PM CST +/-
I can rarely get on there, myself, as that's "gettin ready for work, driving to work, and being at work" time, for me. Check out the sticky thread that I have posted, about the "new chat room". Some people "go in", but don't use the correct way to "come out", and then find they cannot get back in the next time they try. Some don't have that problem, but more often than not, those that do didn't use the "Red Bar" to exit ... so their names stay active, and the site's setup won't let them be there under the same name twice.
Ed clears out the people's names that get "stuck" in there ... but, he doesn't do it daily. That may be the one single factor in why a lot of people don't use it, or try it once - get stuck - and then get discouraged, 'cause they can't get back in, so they just quit trying.
It's a far better setup than the old one, because you can only enter with your membership name. The old one allowed anyone to use any name, and some people used other member's names and created a problem.
It's not moderated, so there can be some language or inuendo issues :p but, it rarely gets too overt. Just letting you (and everyone else) know this, in case children are present/reading/joining in on the chat session.
