Question Best Crappie Lake in US

What lake in the United States is the best lake to catch big crappie(2# and up)???? Have fished Kentucky and some other local favorites here in my area---Thanks--I am planning a trip for spring and looking for some ideas.

Grenada & Arkabutla in Mississippi probably have the biggest fish of ANY lake in AMerica.

Since Crappie Masters have been publishing their catch total on their website, Mississippi has lead the biggest stringers CONSISTENTLY year after year after year. I would say 60-70% of their top 10 weights for the year come from this state. And they only fish Grenada and Barnett.

I haven't had the pleasure of fishing Grenada, but I've heard many great things about it. Lake Talquin in Fla. gets my personal vote with Logan Martin in Alabama in second. Just from what I've fished.

The Mississippi lakes are well known! They have probably more 3pounders. Though you said the most 2 pounders and Talquin and Logan Martin also get my vote. They are definitely easier to fish. Both tournaments at TAlquin this year took over 15 pounds out of 7 fish.

    Default Best Crappie Lakes

I agree with what has been said about Grenada Lake and Arkabulta being best big crappie lakes.
If I was going far lots of 1 1/2 to 2 pound crappie , I would pick Weiss Lake, Al, or Ross Barnett in Ms.
There's probaly more crappie per square mile in Weiss than most all lakes, I wish I lived there.
Kelly Matthews is a super guide there on Lake Weiss, he's also a crappie.com member and a very nice guy, give him a try.

Ive never fished any of the famed lakes (but will shortly) but my vote goes for Clarks Hill on GA/SC boarder. I catch well over 100 2lb crappie in a fishing season.

I agree with spider rig man.....Weiss Lake is the place to go for 2+ pounders, and Crappie.com member Kelly Matthews is THE GUIDE who will help get you onto those slabs. Check out his site for more information: www.weisslakeguides.com
