I have used Master locks for years and from time to time you have to give them a shot of WD-40 but I've never heard of this. I would suggest spraying the inside of the keyhole and the lock itself after every lake trip.

I don't know how graphite would hold up with the water dunkin, but it's good on locks. maybe try some 100% silicon Spray each time, should work.

Otherwise you may need to use some good grease, like for your reels.

Yes papasage is right on or U can use what we here in north use to keep locks from rusting& freezing in Minus 20 weather & that is CRC White Lithium Grease(with teflon) comes in spray can(blackred letters) like your wdstuff. Very handy just spray inside lock with red straw nozzle thingy. Also use it in car locks, padlocks on sheds etc. Never had a carlock freeze with this grease.

yep papasage is right. WD-40 will dry up over night and if some other type of lub is not use where WD-40 was used to free up stuck what ever, it will allow steal to rust up. seen it happen on things with small bearings like reels. white lithium like jaxsprat said is the best. just my 2 cents.

Doesnt wd-40 also create stuff to rust? wd-40 would be my last resort.I'd dip my key in vaseline and insert into lock several times to get it inside good b4 I would use wd-40

I have a master lock (trailer pin lock) on my spare tire and from time to time it goes under during launching. Yesterday I had a goodyear marathon blow out on the trailer as I was going to the lake. It took me 2 hrs to get the lock to open. This is a new stainless steel lock that I put on in April. I sprayed it with WD-40 when I bought it. I am going to start caring PB blast in my truck. I wish I had it yesterday.
Use a generous amount of vasoline & just smear it over and in the key hole (I use an old turkey injector). Grease will do the same thing but Vasoline is not near as messy. :D
