what i do is drawn all live wells, remove the plug and trim you engine all the way down to drain the water out. One more thing after the live wells are drained you may want to put the plug back in it to keep the hole from freezing over.
Im kind of new to having a nice boat. I used to have a 16 ft flat bottom with a mud buddy on it and things didnt matter on it but now i have a triton 17' with a 115 hp on it and im wondering if when it is below freezing outside it you have to worry about your water pump and ports freezing up inside you motor while you fishing. Probably a stupid question but thought id ask. thanks Jonathan

I think you asked if "While Fishing". No problem while fishing. Just follow the others advise when you pull it out and park it.
Another consideration if the ramp is cold enough that the lake water will freeze on it is to pause the boat trailer wheels at the waters edge when pulling the trailer out of the water and let the trailer drain a bit. It just a courteous gesture at trying not to ice up the ramp for the next boater using the ramp.

ya i know about the taking it out of the water stuff but i just wondered if yall ever had problems freezing up while on the lake. good suggestions though thanks for the replies.
It doesnt normally get cold enough for water to freeze causing too much trouble down here in Georgia. Rod eyes might freeze up a little but nothing to hurt the motor EXCEPT....last winter (and only a couple of times) the oil in the oil injection tank thickened up enough to make the alarm go off when the motor wasnt getting the right mixture of oil with the gas. I could run at idle speed or just a bit faster but couldnt run on plane or the motor would shut off. I gotta figure out something to keep this from happening again this coming winter. I'd hate for the oil/gas mixture to run too lean causing any harm to the motor. Anybody from thye northern states have this kind of trouble?
