    Cool Depends

Depends on several things. Where you are, water temp., length of days, species (Black or White Crappie)...etc

The date for spawn depends on where you live, latitude. Baits can be jigs, small spinners(Beetle Spin, etc), minnows, wax worms, maggots, anything that might resemble food. I've had folks tell me that spawning crappie will hit a pine knot when they are presented right.

Give more details of your area and we may can give you a ball park figure. You have to account for location, moon phase, water temp., water clarity,. and still they sometimes fool you or even sneak it in on you.

Yep. I have preached this method for 100 years and it NEVER fails. And if you don't have dogwoods where you live you are missing out on the best "farmer's almanac" of fishing that was ever invented!

That's what my grandpa used to say years ago and he wore them out here on Ky. Lake. But now days if you wait on the dogwoods you're miss'n out on the front end of the Black Crappie Spawn. If you Live here in Paducah let's hook up & catch a few! :D

    Holy Moly!!!!!
You are probably the only person on this entire site that has questions about the spawn. I can't wait for the Fall bite. :p
Just messing with ya. But, if you haven't seriously tried the fall bite, you are missing something. When you get my age, it makes life go by to fast when I look forward to more than the next season.

I'm right there with DRPEPPER...the fall/winter bite is my favorite time to crappie fish , but i do chase 'em year 'round. If you do this (i'm no longer a hunter) then you can't possibly miss the spring spawn unless you're fishing water where they ain't.
