    Default 997 ?

I went for a ride today with a guy that has a 997 on his boat. It won't scan to the left because his motor blocks it. Does anyone else have this problem? He has a 250 h.p. Merc on a 22 foot Triton. How can this be fixed?

transducer placement is the key, sometime you may need to trim up the motor a little to give it a clear view of the other side. its a razor thin beam so it dont take much room

The transducer for this unit must have a clear path or it will not work right. If the motor is blocking one side of it, it will not read on that side. If the unit is not getting any picture at all, then either the transducer is not working, or is not plugged up, or some thing is blocking the view of the transducer.

Transducer placement is key. This is one of the reasons some place the transducer up higher in a place that will not get high-speed 2D sonar readings but will get Si out of both sides. Depending on his transom he may have to raise the motor to see both sides.
Some 997 owners have even installed two Si transducers and use the one on the right side of the hull for the right Si sonar and the left Si transducer for the left Si sonar. So far this has only been on salt water boats that I know of.
