crappies in shock

Just got back from cabin ...went out for crappies once did very well, but something unusual.
Caught about 30 crappie and they were deep as they have been all summer.
It has cooled down over the last week so I knew that was going to push them right down.
Fishing in 25 - 26 ft of water and the crappies were within 5 ft of bottom
5 fish I tryed to release just curled up and floated on top.... tried tail pumping them in water .... but only one of them revived.
Now this happens maybe 1/2 dozen times a year ...not 5 times in one day!
I know that I am a lot farther north than most ... but anyone else been seeing this?

Their air bladder is full from coming up from the deep water. Some people poke a hole in them so they can dive again, but I think msot will die any way.

I suspected that but I did check these fish for that and it did not seem to be the case. ( I know that fish can suffer from this and not show the normal signs)
On trout the bladder will push right out their thoat so that it is easy to puncture for release.
I am wondering if maybe if there is something else .... because our fish have stayed so deep all year .... maybe oxigen level or some thing??

Sounds likke you may need to loosen your drag, maybe pulling them up to fast. The swim bladder does not always com out on crappie.
