Have any of you used this rod? I read a few reviews saying that the tip is very sensitive on it you can adjust the reel seat for balance. Cabela's has them for about 15 bucks. I was just wondering if it would be worth buying. Catfish Connection has them for around 12, supposedly has a fish ruler on the rod itself.

I only use "Ugly Stick" rods. Sorry I can't help you. The "Ugly Stick" is super sensative though.

I have a friend that owns a bait & tackle shop & he sold me 2 12' rod & reel combos at cost, just to try them out & let him know what I thought. I think I gave about $25 for the 2 of them together.

For starters thay are a glass rod not graphite. They are pretty durable but are no where close to a graphite rod for feel (sensitivity). I don't like them at all for vertical jigging. I found the tips to be a little too "whippy" for my liking. You can't use very much weight with them due to the tip. They aren't too bad for bobber fish'n though. I keep the 2 I have in the rod locker of the boat for back-ups incase one of my good rods breaks. About the only good thing I can say for the combo is the little zebco #11 underspin reels are pretty good.

I bought a couple...compared to my Outlaw poles...well the Zebcos are so sorry they only leave the garage if I need to lend them to somebody who doesn't have their own. They are fiberglass and heavy, and not sensitive. And the tips are about as strong as a toothpick. Both of mine broke within a week of being new. And I haven't broken a rod tip on any rods in a long while. The tips are just too weak, and too whippy. I also hate the wire guides.

They are cheap rods but you knew that from the price. I bought two of them from Academy Sports. The tips are very sensitive, but I mean this more by sight than by feel. I use them exclusively for night fishing. My line is hanging straight down and the tips are so "sensitive" that the tip often moves a little just with the action of the minnow. When a fish strikes, even a light strike, you can see it. I don't believe they would be any good for casting, vertical jigging or trolling.

The reels also have depth stops that allow you to return to the set depth just by opening the bail on the reel. Too bad it doesn't tell you what depth to set it at!!!

Thanks for the replies. I was just thinking about getting a few cheap rods with eyes on them for my boys to use, but they aren't too careful with rods. I have 6 of the b and m blackwidows for them to use, but they dont have eyes on them and I was thinking something decent, cheap, and with eyes. Thanks again for the replies.

get'em a couple of the Berkley Cherrywood rods, if you're looking for a decent light rod. You can catch them on sale, now & again, at WM. I've seen them for between $12-$20. Don't know what you can get the "Ugly's" for, but they might also be a smart investment. (just don't let them try the trash compactor scenario, as seen on the TV ad :p )
Time to start teaching those boys how to cast or just upgrading from the Blackwidow's ??

Pappy's right. I saw them today at WM for $12 Bucks. I have a buddy that he and his wife use them for casting and he swares by his. Says they're the best rods he ever had for the money.

I've used the cherrywoods for years, light, tuff, and
they won't break your wallet. The slightest tic is easily
felt! I now use the Lt. Med. for everything.
The Cherrywoods would be perfect your crew!
