A door will do either one in but I like graphite because they are lighter and very sensitive.

depends on how you're using it. I have some glass poles that I use around heavy brush that's tuffer'n whit leather, but heavy as all get out, compared to graphite. If I'm tightlining most time I use graphite for reasons stated above. I can fish with one of these all day and my carpal isn't as upset at the end of the day.

Fiberglass is tough and super strong, but we're talking about crappie, not tuna. I vote for graphite. It's lighter and more sensitive.

Or you can get the best of both worlds and buy an Ugly Stick Light. Fiberglass rod with a graphite outershell. But I do like graphite better. Lighter, more comfortable fit, and more sensitive.

The only time I would pick glass over graphite is fishing a crank bait for bass so it forgives more. Since I rarely ever do that I don't own but one rod that is glass and it's just for bass and lip-less cranks.

I have fished graphite since it came out and never looked back, If I remember back that far I had just had some glass rods custom made and never picked them up again.

Graphite will tell you so much more. You can feel bites that glass would hide. So I am graphite 100% and will pick graphite with higher modulus. I usuially like rods that are IM6 or higher modulus if possible.

The new WM rods are IM8.

You really can tell the difference.

I use graphite for fresh water and fiberglass for salt water. The way I look at it is I want sensitive rod for crappie, trout, pearch,. The I want a rod with some backbone for the deep sea fishin. I have used a graphite rod in salt water, but glass is a better rod for salt.

I agree with all the graphite fans. What Skips says is true. The higher the count on the graphite, the better I like it. The WM (Wally Marshall) pro series in IM8 is a true value.
