A lot of folks on here talk about their boat setups..but very few have actually said what type of boat they fish from. I have the feeling the boats used run the full range of what's available out there. I fish out of a 2003 Tracker Tournament V-18 with a 90 horse Merc and have a 10 horse Merc kicker on it for the hp restricted lakes and my best fishing buddy is my wife who likes to fish just as much as I do. How about a short description of your boats and who you like fishing with ..may be interesting...thanks.

Hey kenny, I would be glad to. I have a welded alumminum 1980 Gregor I bought it about 2 years ago. When i bought it, it had bench seats(not good enough). So i tore out the bench seats put in a flat deck with a raised casting plat form , rod and storage lockers(all wraped in a vinal). I have a transom and a bow mounted trolling motors and a 25 hp 1980 outboard which is currently broke and the parts are in the mail. I talk down about it alot but when i fish it, i fish it proud.
And my fishing parter is mostly my Girlfriend, but I Do not know why I take her she always catches more fish than me. :p

I have a 99 Smoker Craft 16 foot deep V with a walkthru windshield, 50HP Honda motor, 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke for a kicker and HP restricted lakes, and a bowmount and transom mount electric motors. It has a standup top and side curtains which extends my fishing season up here in the northern climate. I previously have a 16 foot tiller boat which was more suited to fishing but not comfort friendly for the crew in poor weather. My wife is also my fishing partner, so I have to keep her comfortable and I don't mind it so much myself!

I have '96 Ranger 375XT dual console with 150 hp Merc engine. When I bought the boat last year it already had the bases for driftmaster rod holders (I reloacted a couple of them). I had used Roberts rod holders so made a bracket to fit the driftmaster bases and use the Roberts rod holders which are adjustable. I have an Eagle Ultra Classic depth finder on the dash in addition to flasher unit and another Eagle Tri-Finder 2 on the front with transducer mounted on Minn Kota 50 # thrust Trolling motor.

Mine is an old 1983, 16 ft, Bonito bass boat with a 150 Merc on it. I use home made rod holders that work quit well for me and my 80 year old fishing buddy. Its old but in excellent mechanical condition and doesn't look too bad. It has a lot more motor than I really need but once in a while its fun to get out there and out run a lot of the green carp fishermen. LOL

Well Kenny;
I fish from a 1996 Fisher, it's all welded aluminum, 17ft single console, deep Vee. It's powered by a 115 mariner. I've got a 1958 Evinrude 18 fast twin I use for a kicker sometimes. As well as a 42lb Minncota for the rear. A 12/24 electric for the front. I love it.. I've had it ten miles out past the Biahonda bridge in the keys, hunting Mahi-mahi....lake Michigan, Lake Huron( Georgian bay), and to the Gas rigs off Mobile bay. The only thing I'd do different would be to have a 4 stroke.
Luck to ya

Lowrance x135 on dash, Bottomline 320 on bow (not happy with that unit), Garmin 176C on dash. Driftmasters set up for James river catfishing and Buggs Island Striper drifting. Just added a T-bar to the front as I am new to crappie fishing. This is my year to try to catch some.

I have a 2004 Fisher Marine 1648L. It is the same boat as the Tracker Grizzly. It is all-welded with two pod seats in the back and a deck on the front. I have a 25HP Mercury on it that pushes it about 28 mph with just me or one of my sons. It is perfect for all the things we do: fish, duck hunt, explore, put out structure, ride. I have rod holders attached on the sides, but I am designing what I want to put on this year for rod holders.

I built a front deck with a lid that lifts up for storage. I've learned alot playing with this boat. I've spent so much money building it; I could have bought one that was already set up. With the original prop I got about 54, but I run a High-five now and it kills a little top end. I run about 46 alone and like you 43 loaded. I generally run about 35, it seems to be the sweet spot for that motor and prop. Why I run the high five is another story... got it cheap.. but you sure can't blow it out, and it holds the boat on plane at low rpm's. The boat is rated for 125hp.

I have a 1993 Stratos 274 18' with a Johnson 150 Fast Strike (65mph, 1 person). Currently I have one Tite-Lok 4 rod Black Widow rod holder on the front. Have 2 Eagle Strata 128 fishfinders and a OMC trolling motor. Have a mount for fishing 2 people in the front built and have another Tite-Lok holder to mount. Just don't have the rods yet so I'm not hurrying. Also fixing to replace one of the Eagles with a Garmin.
My favorite fishing buddie is most definately my dad. Then either one of my two uncles. I also like to take my chocalate lab if no one else is going. Gonna try to make my girlfriend a crappie chaser when it warms up.

Mine is a Lund 1650-V single console with a Yamaha 50hp four-stroke. Was my dad's boat he used to fish Lake Okeechobee and I had a 1997 Ranger dual console with a 150 Yamaha Pro-V. We decided for what I did (I also use mine to get to my duck blinds) and what he did we had each others boat, so we traded.

Kenny and Crappieseeker,

Well fisher boats are also owned by Johnny Morris, the same guy that owns tracker boats. The fishers are just a step above the trackers. Usually nicer looking guages, electronics, and bigger trolling motors and a few other odds and ends. But in all they are the same boat.

I fish from a '97 17' Nitro bass boat. I have two double rod holders in the front and in the back. They are rigged now mostly for fast trolling, but I soon want the front holders to be flat across the bow so that I can get my 14-16" jigging poles to hang in front of my trolling motor for slow trolling.

Right now I have a 90 Merc, but am looking to upgrade to a 125. But to tell you the truth, I am ready to upgrade to a larger boat. THis Nitro is a dual console, and it is just a knee knocker. No room whatsovever. WIll never buy another dual console boat, unless it is 22 feet long!

I looked at fisher boats before I decided on my current rig. They are nice boats, but I did not like not having any dry storage. I fish in any weather and having some dry storage is a must. Nothing I hate more is having to get home and empty all the storage and vac the water out. And then to let them air out. That was my only complaint about my lowe.

My current ride is a charger suv 190, with a 200hp optimax. This a fiberglass 19' boat, after owning a lowe alum. There is no comparison from alum to a fiberglass. I am set on fiberglass from here on out. Yes they do cost more, and require a little care. But worth the ride, my lowe use to give me sore ribs after riding in rough water. Not the case in any more I think these fiberglass boats are the best rough water ride.

I just got a 99 Ranger R73 W/mERC 125. Speedo aint working so I don't know a speed til I get gps or fix it. I'll hopefully rig it up for spidering today or tomorrow as wednesday is probaly going to be the speck spawn and don't want to miss out as its also my birthday. You can't beat that luck. The boat has an add'd Eagle finder, has the stock Minn kota 95 maxxum. Wy does it have just one small livewell tough? Its my only real complaint with the boat. I wish it was a 20 footer too but I'm still happy with it. I bought the best deal I could find on a bassboat. Brand was not important, this was just the best deal available locally with out having to hit dealers.

I have a 16' Ouchita aluminum Jon boat with a 9.9 Evinrude motor. The 9.9 is a little small but it gets me there. I have 2 trolling motors a bow mount and a transom mount. I will probably just use the transom mount which is a Minnkota 48# thrust. I got my rig to catfish out of but trolling for crappie is almost the same as trolling for cats, I just use heavier rigs for cats.
I have a Fishing Buddy II fishfinder that I will use on the front of my boat and plan on investing into a Hummingbird Matrix 37 this week that I will use on the back.
My boat is plenty big enough and wide enough that I can put lawn chairs in it to be able to sit back and enjoy fishing in it if I choose to fish that way. Heck, I even sleep in it in the summer sometimes.
I got my boat so that I can either river fish or lake fish. I some times ram it up on logjams in the river to fish under them. It is nothing fancy but it serves my purpose just fine. The best thing about it is that I can walk 50' feet from my front door and be in my boat on the lake I live on.

I'll weigh in on the Fisher side: 17' Marsh Hawk 3V.
I was in the market for a new boat when my first child was born. Was looking at a deep-V platform just for the safety aspect of having small children in the boat. (figured a higher side would help).
Came across this Fisher at a yard sale! Right place, right time. Price was entirely too good, an dended up buying it. Found out it was part of a divorce settlement - seems the little Miss wanted to add insult to injury by selling it. I feel for the poor guy; Mercury ourtboard only had 18 hours on it.

I fish from a 2003 Herrington CrappieMaster 20' glass boat with a 200hp Mercury. Fast, reliable and wide enough to take really big water. It has all the bells and whistles a crappie fisherperson would won't - especially the extra long rodbox and extra large second livewell in the front of the boat.

It's for sell, by the way, and not as much as one would think. Really need to upgrade to a center console to better suit my guiding to take more folks at one time. That's who I fish with - anyone that wants to go. I take a few weekends off, but I try to be on the water as much as possible. Wife used to fish with me when I first got started. Guess she was just being nice. Told her I was looking for a fishing girlfriend, lol. She said I already had one and her name was Jerry Blake. Just kidding.

It will do 20 with a wind (30mph wind lol) behind it and only me and a minimal amount of gear in it, but ive got it to 30mph going down a river(with a really fast current) It is a great little boat ive caught more bass in a 2 months than most people catch in a year because it can go in 8 inches of water with the trolling motor and it will go go any where.

I know some folks like to talk down about Trackers but this is my second one. The first one was an '88 Tournament V-17 with a 60 hp Merc and it was a rivited boat. Since 1988 the motor only needed tuned up and water pump replaced and the boat had new carpet installed just before I sold it in March of 2004 and never leaked. It was a great boat for the price I paid for it and I was so satisfied with it over all those years that I didn't even consider another brand. The one I have now is all welded and has a much bigger fuel tank(41 gal.) and a much wider beam. It rides bad weather very well and is very comfortable to fish from. Different strokes for different folks but my wife and I LOVE our Tracker.

I have a 2001 Xpress X21 with a 225 Yamaha Vmax w/ 82lb thrust var. speed Motorguide tm. I used to be pro fiberglass, but this all welded aluminum, CRAPPIE (don't say the "B" word) boat rides as good as or better than any fiberglass rig I've been in when you're doin 70 mph on the water. It's got a real shallow draft and I can get in places that are too shallow for the glass boys. My primary fishing hole is Kentucky Lake, and my main fishing partner is my wife. We're hoping to try some new water this year in Missouri and Mississippi.

Here is what I fish out of. 2002 Polar Kraft Model 160 SC with a Yamaha 40, 4 stroke. Best money I ever spent. Most everything is still orignal. It has a Minn Kota All Terrain 40.

One of the first things I did was to change the depth finder. I first had two Garmin 240 and now have two Eagle Fish Mark 320.. I also changed the prop up 1 pitch to tame down the RPM's. It was turning 6200 RPM's. It now turns about 5700 - 5800 RPM's. It'll do 34 - 35 by the GPS with just me in it and 32 -33 with 2 people. The electric trim really lets me find that sweet spot.. Max speed, Max RPM, and No torque

I've added 4 rod holders for trolling, but don't do much of that. I wanted a 17' but elected to stay with the 16' because it gets tight getting into the swamp at times so I had to make a compromise. You can't always get everything you want. It now has 145 hours on it and always stays under a cover.

I did have to redo the water outlet in the fish tank to fix the leak, I could have inpoved that for them though. That was the only cheap thing on the boat. I love that .100" welded MV hull.

The name is "OLE Habit" although I haven't gotten around to putting it on yet.

My memory had slipped, the fisher did have them, it was crestliner that did not have the dry storage. The reason I do not care for welded aluminum, is that I had a hull split open about 6" long. Almost didnt make it back to the ramp and get it loaded on the trailer. And this happened on open water, just from hitting a wave. This was a top of the boat brand that makes lots of aluminum boats. They did fix it for free, but still didnt set me at ease.

And I think the ride from the boat is not all boat, its more the driver than anything.

Here is a pic of my baby. It's a 2002 Tracker Pro Team 185 modified for nightstalking crappies. It makes the occasional trip for green carp and stripers but mostly it goes after them tasty crappies.

That's Pete in the front and me in the back. Rango took this photo at our last Striper Rodeo on Lake Wateree a few sundays ago. I love this boat. Next to my wife and daughter, she's the love of my life. I'm getting all choked up thinking about her now. Let me get a hanky. Hehehe. :D

Look to me like you boys caught em. By the way she is sitting there must be a lot of weight in the rear livewell. Have to be carefull with so many fish may need some ballast in the front. :D ;)

Good looking rig.

With the weight of the livewell and motor and my big fat butt, she sits like that in the water most of the time. Even when I am working the trolling motor up front by myself, she still sits with the keel just a little higher than the rest of the boat. I guess that is just the way tracker designed it. It has to be the weight of the motor. ;) Yeah, that's it, the motor..... :D

I fish from a 14' 2003 Lowe 1448 flat bottom Jon boat. It has a modified 2004 9.9 Mercury, 36 pound thrust TM aft, and a 50 pound thrust MK Powerdrive TM on the bow. 99% of my fishing takes place on small reservoirs that are hp restricted or TM only. Use the link in my signature to see pictures or get a more detailed description of the boat and equipment.

I fish alone most of the time. On the rare occasions when my wife and I get some free time together, she will go with me. My two teenage boys will go every now and then, but neither one is really into fishing right now. I think they are just at the age where spending time with the old man isn't the cool thing to do and I do not push them to go with me. Hopefully, they will take to fishing when they are a little older and are ready.

I have a 2003/ 18' shadow grass camo crestliner that is rigged with tite lock sets in the front and home made set in the back. It has a lowrance x-85 in front and a hummingbird on the dash. The boat is also rigged with a 50 hp motor and 74 lb. minn kota.

I have a 18' stratos with a 150 on it that I leave at our lakehouse at Pickwick and I'm finishing up a 17' john boat with a yamaha 50hp four stroke on it. To be honest I see me using the jon boat more in the future than the stratos. I'm hoping to take the jon boat on it's first outing this weekend if everything works out.

This was right after the motor was put on:

This was after I had the rhino liner sprayed in it but before the motor.

Panman I'm down at the bottom with you, 14' Polarcraft with 8 HP Evenrude, but after 25 years of humping a 12' Sears jonboat in and out of the back of a truck it's a big step up. That old Sears boat I bought for $100 new used 40 or 50 times a year sure got my moneys worth out of it.

I have fished for years out of an unknown old boat called an Artcraft Crappiemaster (Company in Alabama made them but went out of business several years ago). It's a 1984 model, 15 ft. fiberglass with a 35 Evinrude that runs long and strong and has never failed to start on the first hit. Has a Minn Kota AT 40 lbs. trolling motor, 2 live wells, anchor mates on front and rear, console steering, no gauges but does have a Humminbird 100 fish finder that always lets me find 'em. It's old, slow and ugly (sort of like me) but it gets me there and back every time usually with some crappie on board. I really would hate to take a nice boat in most of the places I usually fish so I really never think too much about a new boat.

is a 2000 CVX 182 Crestliner (95" beam)with a 150EFI Mercury with a 4 blade SS prop. Lowrance x75"s front and rear. Minn Kota straight 24 volt trolling motor up front. 35 gallon fuel tank and front livewell is turned off and used for storage and the rear livewell is 5' long inside and around 18" wide. I don't know how many gallons it holds but there's been over 60 crappie in there. It has a recirculating system that keeps the water oxygenated all the time. It's on a timer. It all has a light for night use. The whole front of the boat is nothing but storage. It's plenty fast and it's holeshot loaded or not is right now. Boat rides pretty good for aluminum and will take rough water with the best of them. It's stable to fish from also

Best thing I like about this boat now it's paid for. Crestliner builds a damn good boat.

New pontoon will be here in about two months. :D :D Her boat!

mine is a 100 ga all-weld alum.v-bottom w/40 hp Nissan fuel injected w/s.s. prop. It runs 35 top end. Great for south louisiana marsh and rivers. This boat is ideal for me as I am very rough on my equipment and fish lots of flooded wood. I bought and installed everything new but I believe I could have bought a factoty unit for less. I guess that what you get when you rig it the way you want. I also use it for saltwater red and trout fishing Thanks, beaux
