    Default oxygen levels

wandering if anyone wanted to share any info about oxygen levels in deep summer water. i caught crappie in some deep 45 to 50 ft water last fall , thought id get some there this summer but so far no fish. i was wandering if the oxygen levels got better in the fall or better in the summer?

Usually the oxygen levels are very poor below the thermocline in the summer months. This is evident by your minnows quickly dying when fished below the thermocline. You will have a lot better luck looking for crappie suspended at or above the thermocline during the summer months.
I think I just read where Sac-a-lait said he was tearing 'em up 12 to 13 feet deep in 20 to 25 feet of water.
Once the surface water cools cooler than the deeper water in the fall the cooler water will sink and mix with the warmer water below. This mixing action puts oxygen at all depths and this is why crappie can be caught right off the bottom in the winter.
