    Default GPS on Boat Graphs

Approximately how close to a brushpile that you have marked with the GPS on your boat graph get you to when you return the next time? Just trying to figure out if there is much difference in the hand held GPS versus the one on your boat graph.

I find no difference. I have both hand held and a combination unit. The hand held is an e-trex legend and the combo is a Hummingbird 161. both are equally accurate. If I had the 161 first, I wouldn't need the e-trex. I am glad that I have both now that I have them. I am dead on to say 15 foot.

On the same subject, how many folks use averaging once you get a waypoint and if so have you found it to be more accurate when you return to your waypoint? Sometimes mine will count down to 2-3 feet but was wondering if anyone had checked it out to see if it is worth while.

I have not had a hand held gps unit in over a year, so my info may not be correct. But I have always found that the hand held units do not get you as close as the bigger mounted units do. Like I said, they may be more accurate now, but a year ago my vote would be for a bigger mounted unit.

    Default Gps

I Think The Difference Is In The Entering The Waypoint ---mine Does,nt Seem To Be As Accurate Marking From A Fixed Position As From A Slow Moving One [I Have Both Hand Held And Chart Plotters]
