    Default Tach help/new boat pics

Do any of you guys know how hard it would be to hook up a tach on a 08 50 hp mercury? Is it something I can do myself, or do I need to take it in and have it done?

Unless Merc has made major changes in the newer models its pretty easy. A lot of the remotes have a place on the front of them to plug a tach harness into. A tach requires 3 wires to work (4 if you want it illuminated). Black to ground, purple to 12V, gray to sensor and blue for lights.

Its got a black, red, purple and blue wire comming out the back of the controls with female conectors already on them, and it also has a black round plug with 5-6 wires going into it. Is any of this what I need?

Very nice looking boat. Your tach wires are probably in that round black plug but I'm guessing. I don't have any manuals covering newer motors. You need to check with the dealer to be positive.
