OK I messed this one up by cutting it in half when I tightened the thread too much so I put it on a shorter hook....
And one of the others with different color legs and I think my next one the legs will look better....

Nice looking ants! I like the top one best cause it has more body to it! Gills like the ones with more body to it. Atleast thats what I have found.
Skip, you may be on to something here. Let us know how well they're received underwater. LOL
Wish I had a fly rod and reel to give them the best test, but only have my crappie poles to use for now.
The bigger one floats and looks awesome in the water and I got more hits on it. The little one sinks very slow and also caught fish. I do have more colors to try out too.
I only got to try them off my dock so far and there are only small bream there. I think the little on would work with a split shot or even fished with another jig in a tandem rig for crappie. Just have not been where I can try that yet.

This wont work with a tandum rig only because it is floating so it will float up against the line. I am sure using a split shot will work. I use spiders and ants for gills when I fly fish for them.
Actually the small one I was talking about doesn't float, but sinks slow.Originally Posted by crappiekid24
Then that is perfect! A sinking fly is really good through the ice on a tandem rig. Let us know how you do.
