Well I couldn't find out from Cabela' if the 72 gps can use a power cord for the cig. lighter plug.
From what they said they thought it only use's batteries, I sure hate that, they have for $99.99 special buy, if it had a power cord I'd jump on that.

I have a Garmin 72 and I am well pleased with it. It only operates on batteries. However, $99 is a great buy as I paid $152 for mine. I use rechargable batteries like the ones I use in my digital camera and they last a long time on the water.

Yep, Kevin is correct. I checked my GPS and my manual and there is an external data/auxlary power port on the back side. Thanks for the info Kevin. I have had my GPS for over 9 months, and didn't realize it had a power port. I guess it pays to read the manual thoroughly. Like I said earlier, that is a good buy, about a third off the usual price.

I've got the 72 and I bought a cable from discount GPS.com. it has the cigarette lighter adapter and the computer hook up on the same cord. I really do like the setup and the GPS is a good one for the money. Got mine for Christmas and my son told me he found it at walmart for 75.00.heres the link to the site http://www.gpsdiscount.com/products/index.html?p=714

Grubby beat me to it or you can do a search for JandH Products and compare prices there. The power cables, data cables and mounts for the 72 are also the same for the 76. So, if you don't find what you are looking for when searching for accessories for the 72 just look at the accessories for the 76.

You can also buy all the cables you need for this unit straight from Garmin. $99 is a very good buy!
