I caught a few crappie on a 1/0 circle hook. you may get discouraged if you are getting bites on dinks, though. You also cannot set the hook on them or you will pull it out of their mouths. you have to let them hook themselves, & reel it in. I think it would be ideal for a spider rig situation where they pull the pole down in a rig, but I don't have a lot of experience with it. They work fantastic on trotlines for catfish, too!

Sometimes I'll use a #6 when I tie the Clouser Minnow streamer fly. Good results. Just make sure the marabou tail does not extend over 1/8" to 1/4" past hook tip.

In the summer I use a minnow on top and a jig below and the minnow I either use drop shot hooks or circle in size #2 (Gamakatsu only).

IF you're draggin corks (trollin) they are great with a minnow b/c when the slab tries to pull it down they hook themselves and you're set. I use ones the size of a dime by Gamakatsu.

I use circle hooks a lot for spider-rigging. Just remember to not set the hook---just firmly lift the pole.
