I think you are talking about the catalpa worms. I may have mispelled the word but I do know that the catalpa tree is covered with this type of worm during certain parts of the year.

catfish love them, some people turn the worms inside out

Here in Arkansas they are really heavy on the trees. They make excellent catfish bait. I just put a link up on the Arkansas page on this subject the other day. Check it out!

We use lots of them for bluegill and redear sunfish. I gather them when they are mature and blanch them just like you would peas or beans. Then you can scatter them out on a cookie sheet and freeze them and then just rake them off in plastic bags and store them in the freezer. If they are done this way, they will not turn black when thawed out, even if they stay thawed all day.

I agree with everybody else. They are catalpa worms and they are green and black colored.

I have just started finding them here in Ohio. How long does it take them to mature.
