    Default Minn-Kota or Motorguide?

I am afraid due to my R.A. that I am going to have to go with some sort of powerdrive trolling motor as my next trolling motor. The push/pull cables of the foot control units are just too painful to operate after a little while.I have a Panfish 16 Stick Steer by Tracker.
I've heard a lot of guys on here having mounting problems with the Minn-Kota motor. Does anyone have any experience with the Motorguide models?

Nobody wants to service Motorguides. I don't think Motorguides have autopilot either. Motor guide owned by Merc, who is owned by the Bowling Ball Folks. Hope they don't screw things up for Merc like they did Harley. Mounting is no problem. Just plan ahead before you screw and drill. I made a mount plate. Attached plate to boat. Attached TM to plate. Easy.

I know a guy who works for Mercury that will not use anything but a Minn Kota.

    Thumbs up

My Minn mounted up pretty easily. Had to tighten it up the other day.
I'm happy with it. I wish Minn would have over 360 degrees (more like 450degrees) of rotation with the foot pedal.

If the pressure is a problem, the new terrova is a sweet little deal with Minn Kota. They got rid of the crappy side to side foot pedal and developed a fore/aft pedal. They also sped up the turn speed of the motor so there isn't as much wait as before. They come with auto pilot. Thumbs up to the new Terrova. That will be my next more when my Maxxum decides to take a dump.

I have two hand controlled MK's on my boat. A Endura on the transom and an All-Terrain on the bow and I love em'. I've always had MK's except one, which was a motorguide, and will never buy another motorguide in my life. It wouldn't go through the weeds and I had all kinds of mechanical problems with it.
    GO STEELER'S!
