One thing I forgot to add is I'll be doing it from shore...

I already know a few hotspots on this lake but not sure how they'll fare with night fishing...

Also should I be using live bait or stick with my artificials(with some added glow in the dark features maybejust for the night)??

Minnows usually work better at night.

get u a 12 volt tail light socket at parts store or off a junk car and use a 1157 tail light bulb. fix u a globe out of a one gal bleach bottle. mount the socket in the neck and cut the bottom out of the jug and hang it over the side. let about one inch of the jug go down in the water. just a kentucky redneck idea but it works good.
( sorry i just saw the part about fishing from shore) it would still work but u would have to lug a battery down to the water.

get a floating fishing light at walmart for 12 bucks. use lawn mower battery. Should last a few hours, and won't be too hard to lug to the water. Also, if there is a tree or a bridge, might be able to lower a lantern to just above the water.

if you have large floats put 2 lightsticks on line under a large float and cast with another rod will work, the large catfish floats, put lights 6-8" apart
