It's been an odd year in our area too. It's either red hot on (not as common), or ice cold (more common). I've been fishing holes that have consistently produced for years w/out getting anything or very little.
The water is also way down here too.
Went out this morning and tightlined until the wind got bad and had 10 keepers at 9AM, keep at it for 30 more mins. with no more bites and then tried pulling CB's, 1 non-keeper, gave it up. It has been a very rough month for me, the lake is 7 foot low. My partner put it on me last time we went with a blue Slater jig, don't have any except a couple he let me have. So I tried something with a 2" Bass Assassin Silver Minnow Curley Shad, I think its called. Worked on it with a blue Sharpie and it was by far my best bait.

10 keepers by 9am i call that a good day
What do you consider a "keeper"? 8"? 9"? 10"? Less? More?
Just curious.

Have to be 10" to keep, most were 10-11", had 2 about 12". Okatibbee is not a good sizewise lake, a 1 1/2 lb fish is a real good fish. Normally a good numbers lake. So far post spawn has been unfruitful, maybe because of the very low water. Why I don't know, seems to have a good many shad.Originally Posted by SkeeterJeff

Like somebody has on their signature on here...
"A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work"
10 by 9 am... I wouldn't exactly call that a bad day. Keep after 'em.
