Default Need Help Deciding on New Boat

I am looking for a new or used crappie boat. I used to have a Skeeter bass boat but recently sold it. I did not like that casting deck or the console steering so I know I do not want those on a crappie boat. I was looking at a War Eagle 754 VS (17' Stick Steering). I really like the Xpress and Bass Tracker rigs because of the minnow bucket aerated livewell in front and back but when you go to stick steering you have to reduce the length of the boat to a 15' or 16' length. I was also looking at a 40 - 50 hp motor. I just need something to get me to the crappie hole. Let me know what your thoughts are and experiences are. I have never owned a stick steering boat. I just know from past experience I got tired of driving from one fishing hole to another and getting up and down around the console. It just seems like a wasted space to me. Thanks.

Stick with a 17.5 Tracker Crappie Boat. I have the Bass tracker and wish it was outfitted the way the Crappie Tracker is.

I would probably go with the bass tracker for an aluminum stick steer.

    Default crappie boat

You are right, stick steering is the only way to go. Express makes a good boat. I have not had good luck with the trackers, they don't seem to last.

I had a 16' Tracker Panfish with a stick steer before I traded up to a 18' bass boat. It was okay on smooth water but I would get soaked when the water got a little rough. The little lady in the back caught it even worse which was like 10 strikes against it, if ya know what I mean. But then again that made it easier to get the P.O. for the bass boat.

The new Triton TA-196 is the best crappie fishing boat I have ever had. Go to www.tritonboats.com/frames2.asp?cat=1&bid=197 and check it out.

Best boat I ever owned is the one I just bought. That what I said before I bought this boat, and the boat before it, and the boat before it, etc.

We all like to think we are clever shoppers. Soon as you but it, you will be looking again.
