Not even close here I catch most of my crappie on my hand tied jigs. Nothing even close to that. I do use tubes and other soft plastics on occasion and even minnows in the Summer at night with a jig on the bottom of the rig.

The bigger fish come on the jig about 80% of the time when using minnows.

I use several different baits depending on what season of the year we are in. If I am fishing in the Spring, I will be using Southern Pro Hot Grubs and Tubes. In the Summer and Fall, I rely mostly on live bait (minnows).

I catch most of mine on a Bob Clouser type minnow/jig that I tie. Sometimes I tip them with a wax worm for scent. Tubes are my second choice. Both last longer than live minnows and when the fish are "on" you don't have to mess around trying to rebait.

99.9% of my crappie have been taken on hand-tied marabou jigs. I also occasionally catch them on maggots while fishing for bluegills.

I catch mine on hair jigs bought from walmart. I out catch everyone else using plastics, and even the ones using hair jigs. I guess I just have the touch.
