I'm curious as to whether you catch more white or black crappie.

Seems to me that the vast majority of pics are of white crappie, I'm curious as to what everyone catches most of. The lakes I fish only have black crappie so I never even see white crappie.

Here on Lake Nimrod ,in Arkansas it's more whites. It's a flood control Corps of Enginners Lake. It's dingy water most of the time and blacks perfer clear infertile waters. We catch lots of blacks also at times ,but most are small. Our slabs usually are all whites here. We catch some big whites up to 2 + lbs , but seldom find a black over 8''.

White crappie are very few and far-between here in Upstate NY. I've never actually seen one in person. So black crappie is what we catch around here.

I fish Lake of the ozarks Missouri and it is about 70-30 whites to black for me the blacks are there but a little harder to find but when you do there are some bruisers to be had.

I fish on Weiss Lake in Alabama and we have both white and black crappie. It seems like we catch more black crappie in the Spring when we are trolling but we catch more white crappie during the Summer & Fall when we are fishing in deep water bumping bottom with live bait. The black crappie seem to school up more and move up shallow during the Spring to spawn while the white crappie will actually spawn in deeper water. As far as the size, both species grow really well here but the white crappie seem to be a little bigger and are the ones most of the tournament anglers want to look for!
