Looks like a nice project, Craig.
Lucked up on that motor too! Can't wait to see the works in action.
I have a good friend who was given this rig to haul off. Titles and all. He said he was going to sell it to pay some bills. He told me he would take $500 for it, I said DEAL. This boat is a good 18" longer than my fiberglass and about a foot wider. No front livewell for now, but I am going to completely revamp this thing into a lean, mean, Crappie Reappin Machine. Front deck will be raised to the height of the livewell that I'll fab up, with storage underneath. Front deck will support three pedestal bases for dual trolling purposes or single operation. The 60HP Mariner that came with it had not been fired up since 2002. The tank was bone dry with NO rust and fresh gas washed about stirred up no debris. I connected a battery, mixed some new gas and oil, water fitting and hoped for the best, choked it, turned the key, spit, sputter, VARRROOOOM! She fired right up! Smoothed out after 30 seconds of operation. The Mariner will end up selling sitting on my fiberglass boat. The 60hp '98 Model Merc (very sweet motor) I bought off Bill Bob will grace the transom of the "Crappie Reaper Creaper". I am thinking seriously about turning her into a center console.
This is going to be a part time project, but will post updates from time to time.

I thought it was a real good deal. For some labor, and a few materials, I can end up with a rig just how I want it. The 60hp Motor alone would sell around here for about $750. I gotta break out the rivets and the rivet gun for this thing as well as the wire welder (aluminum). I really don't expect to have it done this summer. I can still fish and would rather work on the new one on cooler days.Originally Posted by billbob
