May be an inline fuse, or a fuse at the terminal block, or both.

I got a new boat 2 days ago and we were checking to make sure the depth finder worked and it did but yesterday we checked it again and we couldnt get it to turn on. Well we checked to make sure we were getting 12 volts with a volt-ohm meter and we were... but we still cant get it to turn on. The only thing i can think of was one of my buddies was hooking up a batter charger to a battery and accidentally touched the aluminum so do yall think it could be a fuse. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have 12V on the plug that goes into your fishfinder?

What depth finder is it? Some of them you have to hold the power button in until it comes on.

What i did was i slid the head off the mount and I put a volt ohm meter to the plugs that go into the depth finder and it said i was getting 12 volts.. its a humminbird.
Most these units are not field repairable. You most likely will have to send it back to Hummingbird.

I have a 565 the has been back for repairs twice and needs to go a third time. It is very sensitive to over voltage and/or what I call shorting (from vibration). Eventually some element on the main board just goes out and the unit will not power up. Here's a link to their repair. Yours most likely will be the warranty one. -- http://www.humminbird.com/normal.asp?id=814
