Starfire Q-beam lights work good and you should be able to get one at Wal-Mart. My favorite is a flounder gigging light.

Our Aurora is top notch and indestructible. Very easy on the battery. The guys on this site www.azbasszone.com have learned to love it over the others. Go do a search for yourself and see what others think of it?

the light attracts the baitfish and minnows, the noise from the baitfish and minnows attract the crappie, stripe, bass catfish, even a snake from time to time,,,

When I get a "real boat" I'm going to get an "Aquastar" kit that includes white, green and blue, and doesn't need any additional weight to submerge - and the best part is the bulbs can be replaced with halogen bulbs you can get at an auto parts store.

    Reasoning:
    1) They are bright (halogen)
    2) You can change colors depending on what works on any given body of water
    3) The bulbs can be replaced
    4) I really like their website - they've got all sorts of info on fishing with lights that they share with everybody - even if you don't buy or own one of their products.
    5) They're made in the good old US of A
    6) weight for submerging is built-in
    7) they sell a complete kit for $30 - a reasonable price.

Star Fire Q-beam. Inexpensive and works great.
