Default Spoon -n on lanier today

took my girls out today for some fishing. We were shooting our Spoons and dock demons and came up with these, had some dinks but most were keepers.Fish were holding on docks.

those girls are precious, Keith. You're raising them right. Keep a pole in their hands and they'll be alright.

Nice string of crappie, too. Thanks for the pictures.

How'd you get such a pretty crew!? They are something to be proud of. The stringer of fish is pretty awsome too!

    Way to go DAD!
Nice mess of fish and cute kids with great "I caught a fish" smiles on their faces.

That smile on a kids face is one of the great little joys in life. Keep up the good work!

A question about your spoons. When fishing deeper water how do you rig them. I have tried using them with a jig for the weight, but I am not sure it's the best way. This would be fishing water 20' and deeper and fishing down say 12'. Is there a good way other than using a double drop rig, like by it's self?

We use the double drop rig when trolling, but when we are jigging or shooting we just tie it by itself but sometimes we add a split shot if windy or if you think it is falling to slow. The appeal is the slow fall it gives them plenty of time to see it and react. Most of the water we have been fishing is 17-25' deep. Allow it to fall to the bottom and raise the rod tip and let it fall until you get it back to the boat or get a fish.

    Thanks
    Keith

Thanks and I do understand the slow fluttering fall is key for the spoons, but I have just never fished anything that lite before. Nothing under 1/32, but mostly 1/16-1/4oz jigs. We do have a good amount of windy days and I just didn't see how without some other weight I could be effective that deep, but I will give it a shot next time out.

    Thanks,
