I like to use #1 hooks anytime I use live bait "which I hardly ever do" and they seem to work pretty good.
I'D LIKE SOME INPUT ON WHAT IS THE BEST SIZE OF HOOK TO USE WHEN FISHING WITH MINNOWS, FOR OUR FAVORITE, CRAPPIE. I NORMALLY USE "MR. CRAPPIE" CAM ACTION, RED, SIZE "6" HOOKS. IT SEEMS PLENTY BIG ENOUGH WHEN LIP OR BACK HOOKING THE MINNOWS. A "RELATIVE" TOLD ME THAT I WASN'T USING A BIG ENOUGH HOOK. A SIZE "1" WAS SUGGESTED. THAT SEEMS TO ME TO BE TOO BIG EXCEPT FOR THE SLABS, WHICH I HAVE CAUGHT WITH THE SIZE "6". ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF BOTH WILL BE ACCEPTED.

I like size 4 hooks
I use 4's, seem to work o.k. for me.
What makes a better lightning rod than a graphite fishing rod? NOTHING!
#6
Gilby aka Bill :D
It depends on if I'm straight crappie fishing, or if I'm working an area that has crappie & walleye.
Straight Crappie - 6
Mix - 1
red hooks is the way to go size 6
i use 1/0 or 2/0 size hooks.
I like # 4 hooks . I prefer Tru-turn cause they seem to catch more than regular straight shank.I panfish 90% of the time so I use mainly 6 lb test with the Palmar knot.
I like 1/0s. I sometimes hook into bigger fish than crappie and want to have a chance of getting them in. 1/0 isn't too big, at least in my opinion. I use gold aberdeen hooks.
