Question What Are The Limits On Crappie Where You Fish?

What are the limits on crappie where you fish? I fish the north end of Kentucky & Barkley Lakes. Right now the limit is 30 fish per day and all have to be 10" or better. As you have probably learned they are talking about reducing the limit to 20 fish. I personally not think that the limit is the real problem. Think about it. Those of you who fish around here. What percent of your fishing trips result in a 30 fish limit. If your answer is over 50% you're one h*ll of a crappie fisherman or you tend to stretch the truth a little. :D

I wish KDWR would focuse on other factors as well. Like lack of enforcment of current limits, drastic water fluctuation during the spawn, More fishing pressure, stocking of preditor fish like Stripers & Hybrids. I could list more.

They have dropped the limits before and the population is still dropping. Proff to me that it doesn't work. Like I said in another post. The deffinition of futility is, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Have reduced limit helped where you fish?

30 crappie here in Alabama/Georgia. I use a 11" limit but I think it is 9 inches in Alabama. Ga doesn't care.

No limit on size or number in posession in Oregon. But we're gonna limit ourselves to fewer fish this year, it's so much better to only have a dozen or less to fillet when you get home all tuckered out.
    I have a jig with a face like this!

9" in Missouri. Most reservoirs have a 15 crappie limit.

Down here in Louisiana, we have a limit of 50, and it doesn't matter what size they are. And as for reaching a limit on a trip, I have had it happen a few times, but know some people that reach it more times than not.
You can't fish with a hung line!

Here in NY it's 25 and they've got to be at least 9" long.
I don't know about elsewhere in the state, but it must be working at my favorite fishin hole - it's loaded with crappie. We don't even have to fish structure or cover - they're everywhere that the water is more than 4' deep.

Texas is 25 with 10' minimum, but Toledo Bend is 50 with a 10" minimum and that is because Toledo Bend is shared with Louisiana. I never keep a limit for me and who ever fishes with me and I am totally happy with 20-25 per person. I have not kept any since spring because I put enough in the freezer then and still have plenty.
