    Default Spawn Season Totals

Well, it is finally over and I am about to cry, but the numbers made up for a good season.

My dad and I caught over 700-crappie in a 4-week period, all from shore (some from early spawn).

We had over 130 pounds of premium fillets, some of which have already gone to good use in my belly.

276 of the fish were over 12 inches and 70 were over 14 inches. 38 of them made the 15-inch mark. And the biggest was 16” and was very heavy.

This was what the top of my bag looked like every day, but now it is empty.

I will need some therapy to adjust to the post-spawn life.

Any support groups for end of spring fishing?:D

I recommend Crappie.Com daily. Sounds like you had a great season and are set for some good fish frys.

our local "pond" (240 acres) is done with the spawn too, but is so full of crappie, that we haven't even slowed down - just moved out to deeper water. Don't get depressed, get back out fishin. Just because they're done spawning doesn't mean they don't have to eat.

Besides, sounds to me like you've got a bit of eating to do to make room in the freezer for more - a good kind of problem to have!

Sounds like a good season you had. Last batch we caught (last weekend) they were all still full of eggs. Should be spawning anytime now.
